Hands-Free 3D-Printed Door Opener to Slow COVID-19 Spread
3d printing has become the true hero in times of Coronavirus as its application is endless and helping our front-line workers by providing masks, face shields and respirator valves to fill up the global shortage. 3D printing has surely become a useful tool with various applications.
In order to test the hand free door handle, we printed the adapter with an inexpensive method of Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) in PLA material. Other methods that can be used to print these door handle can be SLS and Multi Jet Fusion (MJF).This hand free door handle allows opening the door without the use of hands. The idea here is making the use of elbow to open the door which can help reduce the transmission rate of the disease.
We are capable of producing large quantities of hand free door handles in a very less time duration. After several experiments, testing procedures and careful analysis, these hand free door handles have been prepared so that we can help beat COVID 19 and create a safe environment for all Australians.
